We received our waffle maker a couple of weeks ago. What a great purchase! We had forgotten how much better waffles are when you make them yourself (hot off the iron). This appliance is easy to use, easy to clean, and versatile. The waffles are thick and nicely sized. Haven't used it yet for pizzelles or sandwiches, but we will. The appliance itself also looks nice. The only thing I would improve on is some sort of indication so that you know when the waffles are finished. We just sort of "wing it" based on time. You won't regret buying this. Try some waffles and ice cream at night!
Description of Krups FDD813 Meal Master Pizzelle/Sandwich/Waffle Maker
This versatile Meal Master comes with three different sets of toasting plates to make several of your favorite treats with one appliance in just 5 minutes or less: The sandwich plates cook two tasty grilled cheeses, the waffle plates bake two crispy square waffles, and the pizzelle plates bake two traditional anise-flavored Italian waffle cookies. The pizzelle/sandwich/waffle maker starts to heat up as soon as it?s plugged in so there is no need to flip a switch. However, the red indicator light is small and hidden on the lower right corner of the unit so you should exercise caution if using in a busy prep area. A green indicator light in the same spot illuminates when the sandwich press is hot enough for cooking. After loading up the Meal Master with sandwich fixings or waffle or cookie batter, the unit locks shut for cooking. A test grilled cheese and tomato sandwich made in this appliance toasted the bread and melted the cheese to perfection in only 1-1/2 minutes as opposed to Krups?s estimated 5 minutes. The lid was a bit hard to close even on a thin sandwich so you?ll want to avoid stacking your sandwiches too high or overpouring batter.The Meal Master?s toasting plates easily click into place and release with the touch of a button for cleaning and the nonstick coating on the plates makes cleanup fast and easy either by hand or in the dishwasher. The Meal Master?s handle is cool to the touch for safe handling and the whole unit locks together for compact, upright storage.
